Week Eleven - Being a Learner by Learning Over the Holiday

Kia ora whanau and caregivers,

Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday!  I hope everyone in Room 5 takes a well deserved break, relaxes and gets to have a lot of fun over the break.  Please remember your holiday homework and Holiday Bucket List for the extra house points!

Also, if you remember to bring back your Learning Journal signed and commented on by your whanau you will earn some house-points too!

Week Ten - Being a Learner and Participating in Phonics

Kia ora whanau and caregivers,

This week has been an exciting week for learning.  Although Athletics Sport on Friday was cancelled the students have showed really great focus and have completed a huge amount of learning.

This week Ms. Reitze and her ESOL students from Room 5 participated in a really interesting activity where they made wands and got to talk about what their wands could do!  The students really enjoyed this activity and I made sure that they had the opportunity to share this learning with the other members of Room 5!  Please see the photos below:

The students also completed some really great learning around beat and rhythm where we talked about the sounds we might hear in the jungle.  The students tried to replicate these sounds using body percussion!  Please see the images below of our exciting music lesson:

The students have also been working really hard practising their letter sounds.  As a class we are making great progress and it is clear that the learners are now starting to use the beginning and final letter sounds to support their finding out of words.  See the photos below of our Phonics lesson:
