Week Five - Being a Learner by Learning from Others

Kia ora whanau and caregivers,

This week has been a great week for the students.  They have participated in a lot of fun, new learning!

I wanted to take the time this week to share the new activity which we have been learning in to do at Kiwisport.  The students have been learning the most effective way to throw a tennis ball and how to apply this knowledge to different sports like cricket or handball.

The students now know to place their opposite foot forward, to look where they want the ball to go and release at the apex of the throw to ensure that it goes the distance they are expecting.

Please see the exciting video below!

Week Four - Being a Learner by Playing Fairly and Following the Rules

Kia ora whanau and caregivers,

All of the students at Linwood North School did an amazing job today and participated to the best of their ability in the cross country.  I was so impressed with their attitudes and positive outlook on the event.  The students were supportive of one another and really made the event enjoyable to be present at.  Thanks to all of the whanau and caregivers who were at school cheering for all of our students.

Please see the amazing photos of the event below:

Week Three - Being Responsible by Looking After our Belongings

Kia ora whanau and caregivers,

This week the students have been working hard towards completing their Learning Journal sample for Te Reo Maori.  They have been working towards counting to 20 in Te Reo Maori and the students are now confident at counting up to 10.  They are working towards counting up to 20 currently and are improving steadily!

To support the students at home I have found a really great video to watch with them at home!

Week One - An Exciting Time to be in Room Five! Showing Respect by Being on Time!

Kia ora whanau and caregivers,

What a truly exciting time to be in Room Five!  This term we have begun with swimming and a study around time.  The students are learning how to read an analogue clock and how to show on the clock a particular time.  They have been working very hard to construct their own clocks and are working hard to ensure that their clocks are displaying the right time.  The students have also been exceedingly respectful and responsible at Aquagym.  It has been a real privilege to take the students to Aquagym and support them with their acquisition of water safety.  They are making enormous progress and I can't wait to see at the end of the two weeks how far their swimming skills have come.

Please see below some of the photos from one of our Time lessons this week!
