Descriptions of Goldilocks and Baby Bear

In Room 4 and 5 we have been learning how to write character descriptions. We have been using characters from different fairy tales, myths and legends.  Last week we wrote about Goldilocks and Baby Bear from Goldilocks and the Three Bears. To really understand the characters we were describing we made masks and pretended to be the character we were writing about.  Here are some examples of our work.

Goldilocks

Goldilocks is beautiful because she has a pretty dress and she looks like red riding hood. Her hair is blonde. She is sneaky because she went into their home and ate Baby Bears Porridge. I think goldilocks is naughty because she went into the house without knocking. I think she is greedy too because she ate Baby Bears porridge.

All about Baby Bear

Baby Bear looks like a grizzly bear. He has fur and he always smiles. He has short ears. Baby Bear came back to his house and found out that his porridge was all gone. He went up stairs and found someone in his bed. I think Baby Bear was shocked because he wasn’t expecting to see someone in his bed.  I feel sorry for baby bear because Goldilocks broke his seat. I think he is nice because he is a good person. I like Baby Bear because he is cute and cuddly.

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears

This morning Room 4 and 5 watched Goldilocks and the 3 Bears in preparation for our character description on Monday. We created a "Y" chart to help us think about the character of Goldilocks- what she looks like, what she does and how we feel about her. You can watch the movie again and see if you could add anymore ideas to our "Y" chart.

After creating our "Y" chart we all had a taste of some delicious porridge that Miss Williamson had made for us and we brainstormed some words that described the porridge. We are ready to writing some amazing descriptions next week!

Discovery

Learning to work together, using our WITS and solving problems. These are some of the great skills that we practise during Discovery.

Writing and Science are Cool!

This morning we watched the classic fairy tale of Snow white and the Seven Dwarves. Next week we will be continuing with our character descriptions of either Snow White or a Dwarf of our choice. We thought of lots of great ideas to describe Snow White.

We then made our own "poisonous apples" using vinegar and baking soda. it was really exciting to see the chemical reaction and lots of us thought the vinegar smelt disgusting!!!

Watch our videos to see the chemical reaction for yourself!

Next week for our writing we will be focusing on the story "The 3 Billy Goats Gruff". Today we watched the video and came up with some "WOW" words to describe the troll.

We made bridges for the Billy Goats to cross......

............and 4 students even had a go at making a "Slowmation" movie.
