Why do the trees lose their leaves in autumn?

These are some examples of the explanation writing we have been doing in Room 5. We have been focusing on using the word 'because' to explain something.

Leon: Trees lose their leaves in autumn because there is wind and there is not as much sun to give the trees lunch.

John: Trees lose their leaves in winter because it is not sunny. It is frosty.

Zoe: Trees lose their leaves in winter because it is snowy and cold. There is no sun for the trees to make food.
